Gracia Nova property: the essential guide

One of the hottest places in Barcelona to look for property is in the Gracia district. This district houses many smaller neighborhoods, one of which is Gracia Nova, or new Gracia. Gracia Nova property features many attractive features that make it a top choice for living in Barcelona for locals and expats alike.

Gracia Nova sits in between the Vila de Gracia and the Sagrada Familia districts. This area of the city is slightly away from the bustle and noise of more central neighborhoods, while still being near enough to easily access the city center. About 12% of the population here hails from abroad, primarily from Italy, China, and France. Many locals choose this area for its proximity to the city center without being in the thick of things.

Traveling to and from the Barcelona airport takes about half an hour by car or taxi. You can also reach the airport using public transportation. Gracia Nova is well-connected with the city’s central transportation lines. From the city center, a bus or train to the airport will get you to the airport in around 30 minutes.

What to expect from Gracia Nova property

Many locals and expats alike love the Gracia district for its creative and bohemian lifestyle. The district overall has nearly 15% residents from abroad, and Gracia Nova has slightly less than the district average at 12%. There are many opportunities to enjoy the best of the Barcelona lifestyle in this area of the city.

One of the best places to look for Gracia Nova property is in the area around La Sedeta. Formerly a silk factory, today the building provides a hub for the neighborhood’s social life. It features a civic center and a school. Another popular area is around Sant Joan street, a large avenue with a pedestrian area in the middle. Here, you’ll find many playgrounds and areas to socialize, making it a popular spot with locals.

Many Gracia Nova properties feature newer construction than in other parts of Gracia. This area is mostly residential, so there are plenty of amenities to make everyday living comfortable. Choice properties boast high ceilings and intricate modernist details.

Gracia Nova ranks as the second most-populated area for people who choose to live in Gracia, right after the Vila de Gracia. The expats who choose to live here hail from Italy, China, and France mostly, as well as the U.K. Locals also love this area of the city.

The main attraction in this area of the city is La Sedeta, the former silk factory turned civic center. This provides the hub for many of the local events in the city. It’s also near to the bars and restaurants of the Vila de Gracia neighborhood, as well as the Sagrada Familia.

To get some exercise in the neighborhood, head to Passeig de Sant Joan, where you’ll find plenty of space to walk, jog or bike. You could also go to the Esportiu Claret sports center, or join one of the many private gyms in the area. You’re also not far from Parc Güell, which features trails where you can run or bike, or simply take in Gaudí’s wonderful architecture.

There are a handful of art galleries in Gracia Nova, but for serious art fans you can find some of the city’s best galleries in the Vila de Gracia area of the district. A hotspot for great galleries is Verdi street, though you can also find many clustered around Gran de Gracia where it meets Avinguda Diagonal.
